The Mission of the Foundation for Financial Planning is to help people take control of their financial lives by connecting the financial planning community with people in need.  We achieve this by supporting pro bono advice and outreach activities.

Foundation for Financial Planning Awards 140th Grant

With growing uncertainty about the U.S. economy driving increased financial anxiety among Americans, the importance of preparing for the future financially has never been more critical.

The Foundation has crossed a milestone with their 100th grant.  The Foundation provides grants to other non-profit and community-based organizations to help bring financial planning to people who can't afford it, and teach financial life skills to those who’ve never learned it.

“With the approval of 15 new grants this past November and the addition of over 20 grants to local Financial Planning Association® chapters in support of Financial Planning Days, the Foundation has reached a significant milestone in its history,” said Elaine Bedel, CFP®, chair of the Foundation. “Since 1998, the Foundation has awarded 140 grants totaling $4.6 million.”

Foundation beneficiaries include military families, the recently unemployed, homeless people who are deep in debt and young, disadvantaged adults who are trying to find their way.

Bedel also shared that several new grants will continue the Foundation’s focus to expand the creation of pilot programs that deliver pro bono financial planning and life skills to audiences across the nation.  In addition, there are grant recipients utilizing materials and concepts developed through earlier grants to expand programs to audiences in new areas.
